22nd November 2011
Brunei Halal, part of the global Wafiri Holdings food brand, is the latest tenant to announce its move to Saltley Business Park. The company has signed a 5-year lease on a 25,000 sq ft unit at Saltley, creating 30 new jobs for the region. Speaking about his company’s move to Saltley Business Park, Dr Mohammad Nazir OBE, Chief Executive of Brunei Halal said:
We looked at a number of options for a base for our UK and European sales and distribution centre and Saltley Business Park provided an excellent match to our search criteria. Brunei Halal’s dry food product range is vast covering biscuits, snacks and crisps, confectionary and noodles. The appeal of certified Halal products has increased significantly over recent years and we see significant potential to grow our brand across Europe.”
Christian Smith, director in charge of GBR Phoenix Beard’s industrial agency team, worked closely with Brunei Halal during the company’s property search:
Brunei Halal’s needs were for a location providing excellent access to the UK’s transport network and allowing for further expansion. Saltley offers these attributes being situated around one mile from Junction 6 of the M6 (Spaghetti Junction) and within easy access of the M5. Brunei Halal were also attracted to Saltley Business Park due to the site improvements currently underway, giving a new lease of life to what is already a highly attractive business location.”
Saltley Business Park is owned by Hansteen UK Industrial Property Unit Trust and managed by Hansteen Holdings PLC. It was acquired in December 2010 from receivers acting for Lloyds Banking Group. Hansteen saw this as an opportunity for value improvement through intensive asset management. After careful planning and close liaison with current tenants of the park, Hansteen have embarked on a security capital works programme to enhance the scheme. Due to complete in early 2012, this will include upgrades to site wide lighting and the installation of a new intelligent CCTV network and an Automated Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system. In their first six months of ownership, Hansteen put in place a team of security personnel consisting of former Gurkha soldiers (Gurkha Security Services) to provide improved operations, quality personnel, more effective secure systems and better policed teams 24/7.
Long standing tenants of Saltley Business Park include Anixter, iForce, IMS UK, Ajax Tocco International Ltd and Rippleglen Ltd, representing a diverse range of industry sectors from logistics and distribution to industrial engineering and retail.
